Love Never Fails

A very severe earthquake rocked Sichuan Province on May 12th, 2008. Our head office is located in Guilin more than 1000 kilometers away from Sichuan, so our office and staff were not affected. However, our hearts are with people in Sichuan who have been so badly affected by the disaster. Our staff will be doing whatever we are able to assist our fellow country men in the affected area.

We have contacted all of our customers who are currently traveling in Sichuan and we are very happy to report that all are well and uninjured. We consider the safety of our customers to be of utmost importance during this natural disaster.

We are grateful to everybody who has sent letters and emails of concern and good wishes over to China Highlights over the last few days. Thank you!! Love never fails!

Mails from Our Beloved Customers

Hi Candy:

I hope that you and your family did not have any bad consequences from the earthquake. It was certainly a terrible tragedy for your country, and we were heartsick seeing the devastation and suffering that was shown on television. We are still planning to take our trip to China next April, but before we confirmed out international flights, we wanted to ask you if you thought we should change our itinerary. Do you think we should still visit Chengdu? Is there any other place we have on our schedule that suffered damage? April 2009 is a long way off, so hopefully much will be restored by then.

Regards,

Stan

Dear Candy,

We've been reading in the papers, and watching on TV the terrible fall-out from the earthquake near Chengdu. So many people killed and missing. I haven't seen anything about Guilin, so I assume you city was not hit? I hope everyone at the office and in your family are safe and unhurt.

I wanted to let you know how much my son and I appreciated Michelle and her driver. Everything worked out really well, we had a wonderful tour of Xian and the terracotta warriors. We especially liked eating at the local restaurants. Michelle is an awesome guide. I am saddened to hear about the earthquake, I hope there was not much damage in Zian, and that your family and friends are safe. Again thank you for the tour.

Arlene

Dear Candy,

I hope you and your loved ones were not affected by the recent earthquake in Sichuan. I realize it's far from Beijing, but I know it's a time of sorrow for everyone.

Thank you,

Hello Jane

As a reminder of who I am, you were our guide this past April when my husband Bob and I visited Chengdu, the Big Buddha and the Panda research center. You may recall that I was the one you sent to the hospital when I had bronchitis. You were so kind to help me get into seeing the doctor and find the right prescriptions. We have often spoken about you and how great it was having you with us, not only as our guide but as a friend who encouraged me to climb the steps at the Big Buddha! I would have been so disappointed had I not made the effort to see such a wonderful sight.

So we were so shocked this morning to hear about the earthquake and immediately worried that you might be in danger. Please let us know how you and your family are and we are so hopeful that you made it through this nightmare without any loss.

We think of you often and smile when we remember our time with you. I'm hoping that none of your family or you were hurt by this horrendous earthquake.

Sincerely,

Cindy Trumble

Dear Elaine

What horrible and tragic photos of the earthquake that we are seeing. I can only begin to imagine the horror that so many are facing.

I pray that each one of you and your families are safe. Because of the power outages telephone services (even cell) must be difficult. Again our prayers and thoughts are with you all and we wish for you and your families and all involved the best. Hopefully from this tragedy some good will arise.

Preston & Elinor Owen

Dear Elaine,

I am sorry to bother you but we wished to know that you are all safe after the terrible earthquake.

We are especially worried about Hedy, our lovely guide in Chengdu and Wolong. We have emailed her as usual (we have remained in contact after our trip last November so know that she was in Hong Kong last month but assume she is now back in Sichuan) but no reply. We are hoping this is just because of the difficulty with contact there at the moment. If you know that she is safe and was not in the affected area we would be pleased if you could let us know too.

We hope you do not have too many people, guides or tourists, hurt by this terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.

Thank you,

Sue and John Jenkinson

Thank you Virginia,

I hope the earthquake hasn't damaged you or your office. Hope to reschedule the Levi Trip at some later date.

Lynne

Hello Virginia

I hope you are OK.

Is this the busy time now for tourists in Guilin?.. tonight I see on the TV the terrible earthquake that has struck China. I hope you are all OK.

Look forward to hear from you soon.

Cheers kevin

Candy,

We just saw the news about the earthquake. It looks terrible for all the people injured and affected by it. I am so sorry for your country.

I can't tell from the reports whether the affected area includes where we are going. Could you let us know? Thank you.

Linda

Candy thank you.

We now have details of our flight to Yichang on 24th July.

We are arriving on flight MU 5459 China Eastern Airlines, leaves Shanghai 14.05, arrival 15.30

I hope you and all your families are safe from this dreadful earthquake. We have been very upset to hear about this terrible thing.

With best wishes,

Cathy

Candy,

I am VERY aware of the devastating earthquake. We hope loss of life and property will not be as bad as it seems. We look forward to our trip to Xian, and know you will contact us through your agent there if there are changes needed to our schedule for Chengdu due to the quake. We do not have specifics at this time.

I may not have my cell phone on much of the day tomorrow, and I do not know what the hotel access to computers with e-mail will be in Xian. The best way to contact me MAY be through your tour guide in Xian or possibly my cell phone.

Thanks...and Regards,

Steve Coopersmith

Hi Eva:

We heard the shocking news of the powerful earthquake in Sichuan. My wife and I sincerely hope that you and your colleagues are not affected by this. Our thoughts are with the people who met last year in Sichuan . . . Java . . . Spring . . . Joyce, etc. We hope they are safe.

Alex

Sure Eva,

I hope you didn't suffer of the bad earthquake hitting central China.

Have a good week.

Dear Eva,

I have been trying to get an email through to you for the last couple of days but I'm getting them back to me. I'm not sure if this is due to the earthquake or just computer problems.

I send my best wishes for you and your family and hope that you are all safe. My thoughts are with everyone in China dealing with this tragedy.

If you get this email please let me know. We did book our flights about 2 hours before we heard about the earthquake but now we are not sure what to do and where to take our travel plans and we had to book different dates than what I had given you.

As I said we hope that you and your family are all safe and we wish you all the best through this time. When you do have a moment please let me know that you received this as I do not know what communication systems were damaged and what area of China you are in.

Best wishes,

Tammy

Hi Eva,

I heard about the big earthquake in China, my sincere concerns to all Chinese people. I am wondering if this earthquake effects on our trip to China. Could you let me know if we need to alter any tour schedule or places?

Hope all is well.

Miwha

Dear Eva,

We are all concerned for everyone at China Highlights and especially our friend Liu Xin in Xi'an. We truly hope that you, your family and everyone at China Highlights are safe. If there is any way you can get a message to Xin to let her know we are worried about her and her family, it would be much appreciated. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sincerely,

Nick LaRosa

Eva:

Thanks for sending the trip confirmation to my home email. We were concerned about the effects of the earthquake. I hope that your family is unaffected. I spoke to our son in Shen Zhen briefly and he reports that he is all right. While it is still too early to know the short term effects of the disaster, can you advise if we need to amend our itinerary as a result of the earthquake? Is there any expectation that any portion of our cruise will be affected by recovery or relief efforts or damage to the roads or airports where we will be traveling? Please let us know. Again, I hope neither your family nor friends have been hurt and that you are well.

Len

Hi Candy,

We are very sorry to hear about China's terrible earthquake. We wanted to send our condolences and let you know we are sorry!!!

Candy, with this serious earthquake we are not certain we can travel to China next year. We are not sure the status of the panda's and we realize the earthquake is extremely serious. China is on hold at this time.

Again, we are so sorry for this tragedy.

Sincerely,

Lori and Wally Henry

Dear Candy,

I hope this note finds you and your family safe from the earthquake. The reports of death and destruction that we are getting are horrible.

Regards,

Maynard

Dear Shao Yong,

Almost 3 days I read all I can about the earthquake in Sicuan, and sorry so much because of what I found. It's horrible news and sights, so many tragedies, so many victims, men, women and children.

I were there, in Changdu and Dujiangyan. I remember the people with naked fat belly rest at afternoon in the quiet alley in front of their home. Now I see them crying for their lost family, home and all their poor world.

When We were in Chengdu we took a young driver and his girlfriend, Candy, and we spent with them 6 happy days in Hailuogou, Emi Shan, Lushan and Dazu. They were at age of our eldest daughter, Adi, and we felt to them as our children. They intended to get married after our tour. I don't know what is their fate now because Candy left me email but never answer to me.

I read that the earthquake was so strong that it felt even at Hong Kong, so it also felt in Guilin. I didn't read about damage in Guilin, But I'm sure there was panic also in your City. I hope you're OK, your dear family and all your friends. I remember all of you with love and thanks because your and their welcome us at our last visit.

Please tell all of them that we remember them, worry about them and love them. I wish they all are OK.

Hanna and Avner.
