I had a very interesting time in China. Prior to the tour with China Highlights I made a tour with China Comfort Travel Group Co., Ltd and visited under others the park Yu Yuan in Shanghai. The guide showed us round but did not explain us the characteristics of a Chinese garden with its rocks and the water which should be a symbols for Yang and Yin. Also the typical Chinese house form was not explained to us with the individual houses regrouped in a court yard. I read on these topics somewhat later in a guide of China (Dumont). On the tour of the dam of the 3 Gorges we were explained that the dam is 185m high; I think I found out that this figure indicates the top of the dam crown above sea level however says nothing of its real height I think it is 120m. Also various figures on statistics seemed to me wrong. It seems to me that the guides should go deeper into history and understand more on Chinese culture. I always wanted to tell you how much we did enjoy our holidays in July in China! Our tour was just great. Everything was perfectly organized and went well. Xian and the Yangtze River cruise were my absolut favorites and I can recommend it to everybody. I've heard that there is a new train now from Beijing to Lasha. We may do this trip in 2 years. Da wir anschliessend an die Chinareise noch Badeferien machten, kann ich Ihren Brief erst heute beantworten. Hoffentlich geht es Ihnen gut. Vorab m?chten wir Ihnen noch danken für die sehr gut organisierte Chinareise, die uns ausserordentlich gut gefallen hat.

Eigentlich war das meiste sehr beeindruckend. Vor allem haben uns die Han Gr?ber und die Terracotta Armee beeindruckt. Aber auch der Himmelstempel in Beijing war sehr beeindruckend. Die Zugfahrt von Beijing nach Xian war tadellos.

Max in Peking hat uns durch seine Sprachkenntnisse sehr beeindruckt. Aber in Chongqing waren wir auch sehr beeindruckt von unserem Reiseleiter, der uns in so kurzer Aufenthaltszeit so viel zeigen konnte: Tierpark mit Pandab?ren, ein Museum mit alten Chinam?beln, Vermittlung eines Eindruckes der riesigen Stadt….wie er für uns eincheckte, und wir das Museum fertig besichtigen konnten.

Ganz allgemein gesagt, waren alle Führer sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und konnten viele Fragen ...more

Die eindrücklichsten habe ich mit GROSSBUCHSTABEN markiert: Beijing: VERBOTENE STADT, HIMMELSPALAST, MAUER MUTIANYU, LAMATEMPEL (zus?tzlich, auf eigenen Wunsch). Entbehrlich für uns: Hutong-Rikschafahrt und Besuch bei Familie. Dear Candy,

It's now a week since we are back home from our China trip. And at the end we can tell you that everything went smooth, we stayed healthy during all the time in China and we didn't have to change our itinerary at all. All reservations have been done according to our wishes and the tickets were ready at the time needed. Let me go through your questionnaire in short:

The Most memorable attractions: Li River Cruise / Yangtse River Cruise ,Terracotta Army in Xi'an and Shanghai. We only had a tour guide for transfers in Chongqing and Yichang. All went perfectly well.

Hotel and Meals: All hotel arrangements we have done by ourselves. We were happy that we stayed in hotels like Sheraton, Novotel and Four Points by Sheraton. We know the chinese food and we like it. But we had to learn that the local chinese food is sometimes a bit strange for non-chinese. The food on President 2 was prepared also for western taste and we enjoyed it. ...more
