On reflection this was the best tour itinerary we had.
The most memorable attractions are both the Yangtze River (views and Three Gorges Dam project, the lock- system for boats) and Potala Place in Lhasa. The Lhasa guide – Pasang. was most outstanding.The other guides were all good. I suppose that we liked Pasang the best, as we spent more time with him.Drivers are all good, but the Lhasa driver was probably friendlier as we spent more time with him.
Lhasa Bazaar was excellent, but you do have to bargain, try a few before you purchase as some are far more reasonable than others. The best bargains were gained at the Lhasa Railway Station. The shop outside the waiting room and the first counter as you walk in on the right, next to the grocery shop. First price was very good, no bargaining necessary.The scarf shop in the drive next to the Thangka Hotel was excellent value. Better quality scarves: 20 yuan for single scarf or 15 yuan for large quantities.
My WOW factor came from my Tour Consultant, Mr Dennis Su. He is such a nice young man, excellent English, attended to my every concern, organized a change of hotel in Lhasa with ease and consideration. He always followed-up my requests and concerns. He always rang after to see if everything was OK. He has my highest regard.
I would recommend the company to my friends, but I would tell them to deal with Dennis Su personally. I am really not convinced about value for money, as you company gave me the most expensive quote, but I went with your company because of Dennis Su’s politeness and professionalism. Many thanks to ALL the employees who gave me a wonderful time on the President 1 and in Lhasa, it was a pleasure, particularly to those behind the scenes who never get to meet the customers eg chef, engineers and crews. Without their dedication and hard work, my trip would not have been so wonderful.
In some parts of China, tipping is not accepted and money will be returned but then in the major cities, it is expected without little service. Tipping not compulsory and should not be encouraged, but it always welcomed.
