Confucius Tourist Festival for Study

Confucius Tourist Festival for Study is held every year between July and August in Qufu city, Shangdong Province. The festival is the first festival for study in China with "Confucian culture" as its theme. It has been celebrated for seven years before 2012 and attracts many visitors from all over the world.

Various thematic activities will be held during the festival, such as a classic reading ceremony in Dacheng Hall, inviting renowned scholars to give lectures at Apricot Pavilion, and holding a capping ceremony for a young man reaching 20 in the Confucius Temple.

Visitors can learn Chinese calligraphy, painting, sculpture, cooking, medicine, and martial arts. The Confucius sacrifice ceremony in San Kong (the Confucius Family Mansion, Temple and Cemetery) reflects the social history of the ancient Lu Kingdom (1042–249 BC) and Qufu's special local traditions.
