Yantai International Wine Festival, renamed from Yantai International Wine Exposition after 2012, is one of the most important wine events in Yantai as well as in China.
It has been awarded the title of being one of the "30 Top Festival Events in China" due to its important role in strengthening the communication and cooperation in the wine industry between China and other countries in the world.
Yantai is the birthplace of industrialized wine production in China with a wine brewing history of over a century. Yantai has already successfully held six sessions of the International Wine Festival since 2007, and there were more than 400,000 visitors and 1,500 leading wineries and accessory companies from 80 countries and regions around the world who attended the festival.
It is sponsored by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), the China National Association for Liquor Circulation and the People's Government of Shandong Province of the PRC.
A variety of themed activities are held during the festival, such as the 7th Colombin Cup Yantai International Wine Quality Contest, South African Wine Tasting Promotion, Australian Wine Tasting Promotion, Spanish Wine Tasting Promotion, Home Brewed Wine Competition, Auctions of Fine and Rare Wines and Wine Cultural Collectibles, Chilean Wine Tasting Promotion, Wine Calligraphy and Painting Competition and Exhibition, Wine Tasting and Flair Bartending Performance, Lectures on Wine Knowledge, the World Famous Chateaux Wine Show, and the Wine City Tour.
