Guizhou is a multi-minorities province in the southwest mainland of China. It is surrounded by Sichuan province to the north, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to the south, Yunnan province to the west and Hunan province to the east. With its marvelous landscapes, simple ethnic customs, cultural and historical relics and the pleasant climate, Guizhou is attracting more and more tourists, both domestic and international.

The annual average temperature is 15℃( 59℉), the coldest time is January with average temperature 5℃ (41℉) and hottest time is July with around 24℃(75℉). Guizhou belongs to the humid subtropics monsoon climate region, and the yearly rainfall about 1000-1300 millimeters. It is not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter, it has become a perfect summer resort for tourists.

Most of the amazing scenic spots are located in those minority-gathered areas. The peculiar landscapes, remarkable mountains and caves, brilliant history and culture have left the deep impression for tourists. Huangguoshu Waterfall is the biggest and most famous waterfall in China even in Asia with 80 meters wide and 74 meters in height. Dragon Palace is a spectacular underground Karst cave which located 32 kilometers southwest of Anshun, Guizhou. You can take a boat to see the splendid sightseeing in the caves.

Zhijindong Cave is another focus in Guizhou. It is well-known for its massive, scale, stone pagodas and large number of stalactite and stalagmite. There are more than 50 kinds of Karst topography in the cave, so it is boasted as “the Museum of Karst Topography”.

In addition to enjoying the scenery, tourists can explore the rich and varied folk customs and cultures of the different minorities in the region. Apart from the Han people, there are 10 minority groups living in Guizhou including Miao, Buyi, Dong, Tujia, Yi, Gelao, Shui, Hui and Bai, whose populations are more than 100,000. In total, Guizhou has the country's third biggest population of minority groups. Different ethnic groups account for 37% of the province's total population of 37.5 million, and Guizhou is the home to 49 minority peoples.   

With its numerous minorities, Guizhou offers the tourists a different and fresh experience of festivals as well. There are over 100 ethnic festivals throughout a year. The festivals include bull fights, dragon boat races, horse races, and Lusheng (a type of instrument) dancing. Even some villages are untouched by tourists. The minorities keep most of their unique customs and are very hospitable and kind, wearing colorful and beautiful ethnic clothing. They still hold many complex and old welcoming ceremonies, worship their totems, and play their own euphonious music while dancing.

Kaili is one of most popular destinations of Guizhou where gathered the most minorities and attracts large number of foreign visitors from all over the world. There you can see the elders weaving with old wooden looms, making paper with oldest technology, taste the minorities’ home-wine and even join in the local festivals or special events, such as Lusheng dancing, Miao and Dong New Year. All of there will make you feel like staying for more days to experience, and join in their pure lives.
