Hong Kong Cultural Centre
The inauguration of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre marked a new era in the development of the performing arts in Hong Kong. The foundation stone was laid in 1979, construction work started in 1984 and the building completed in 1989. Since its grand opening on 8 November 1989, the Cultural Centre has remained the premier cultural venue offering a stimulating environment for the arts and quality programs to the public.
The centre is located on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, the Cultural Centre is designed to cater for all the performing arts. There are three major performing halls in the centre, namely the Concert Hall, the Grand Theatre and the Studio Theatre. There is also an Exhibition Gallery which has four foyer exhibition areas. Other ancillary facilities include eleven rehearsal and practice rooms and two conference rooms.
