Eight districts located within the Outer Ring Road are considered to be the city proper of Shanghai, namely: Huangpu, Xuhui, Changning, Jing’an, Hongkou, Zhabei, Putuo and Yangpu districts. Districts located within the Inner Ring Road, including Huangpu, Xuhui, Changning and Jing’an districts compose the city center of Shanghai.

T trains (special fast trains that only stop at main stations) to Kowloon in Hong Kong are also provided there.

Shanghai South Railway Station
Shanghai South Railway Station, located in the Xuhui District, is a transportation conjunction of subway lines 1 and 3. It serves most trains to cities of Zhejiang Province (including Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Ningbo, Jinhua and Wenzhou) and the southern provinces of China, excluding the Shanghai-Hong Kong Route.
Plenty moderate and budget hotels are located there, which are good accommodation for people who value their time and money.

It serves bullet trains and high-speed EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) trains to Beijing and major cities of south China, including Suzhou, Wuxi, Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Jinhua, Nanchang, Changsha, Ningbo and Wenzhou.
Many four-star hotels located around Hongqiao International Airport are at much lower prices than those at city center.
