Located near the Yu Garden and Old Town, Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel is just minutes away from the Bund, Xintiandi and other attractions. This 4.5-star hotel, situated between the old and new portions of the city, features views of the city skyline, and the award-winning “Quan” spa.
The accommodations feature contemporary guest rooms and suites with luxurious bedding. Rooms are equipped with direct-dial phone service, voice mail, high-speed Internet, and 30-inch LCD televisions. The rooms were ok, not special, but everything was there. A hard, but ok mattrass, good linens, seperate bath and shower. Nothing bad to say. The internet line was actually quite good, a good point. There is a bar at the top floor, overlooking the city at night is quite nice. Service in general was just so-so and not good. Many times there was no door-man to get a taxi for you.

The hotel as you can guess from the name is right next to Yu Garden, and it is also next to the metro (line 10 Yu Garden station). Though line 10 is not the most convenient line for business travelers and tourist, it is still very close to the metro if you need to use. However, with the line transfers associated with taking the subway to other nearby points of interest like People's Square and XinTianDi, weather permitting I find it easier to walk. People's Square is only a 10-15 minute walk and XinTianDI is about a 20 minute walk. The rooms were spacious and nicely furnished with modern decor and with free Wifi. There were great views over Yu Yuan Gardens and surrounding areas. Staff were friendly and helpful and all seemed to speak good English. Buffet breakfast was extensive, so many choices.

Location right next to Old Shanghai, Yu Gardens and the subway. The concierge lounge was great with a tremendous view of Shanghai (also free food and drink). Room was clean and big enough for me. Service average.
