Dazhai in Longsheng, surrounded by the terrace field and many little streams, is one of the most attractive and popular villages, and exhibits typical Miao Minority folk characteristics. Stepping along the stone path straight up to the top of the village allows you to feast your eyes on the magnificent terrace field around the village.
Most buildings in Ping'an Village are traditional three-floor wooden buildings, with strong features of the Miao Minority. Among them, the "suspended building" with wooden Miao Minority style windows more effectively displays the village's ethnic customs.
Sunset and sunrise are the ideal times of the day to appreciate the terrace field from the top of Ping'an Village. The terrace field appears as a bride wearing a wedding dress, standing in the light, shining and charming.
The hotels and restaurants in Ping'an Village were built as special structures to reflect folk customs. Taste the food and wine made by the Miao Minority people. Although these hotels cannot be rated with stars, the quality of service, the food, and the accommodations are good.
Staying for one night at a hotel in Ping'an Village is strongly recommended.
Best Time to Visit
The golden time for appreciating the scenery in Dazhai Village is in May of the lunar calendar, as the terrace fields are irrigated with water, creating a heavenly natural image for tourists.
Transportation to Dazhai is convenient. Take the bus from Qintan Bus Station, transfer once at Longsheng Bus Station, and then take the non-stop bus from downtown Longsheng to Dazhai Village. The bus ride is approximately one and a half hours long and costs 40 RMB.
Take an earlier bus to reach the terrace field and spend an entire day enjoying the folk dishes in the rustic and ethnic cultural local restaurants.
