Harbin–Dalian High-Speed Railway to Open in December
As part of the rapid development of China's railways, a new high-speed railway connecting Harbin and Dalian (in Northeast China), will begin operating on December 1st, 2012. Passengers can take a high-speed train from Harbin to Dalian in only four hours (previously in 14 hours at most), which will save hours on the journey.
Since November this year, Heilongjiang Province has been beseiged by a number of heavy snowstorms. Harbin and other part of North China entered the peak winter travel season early. Travelers can enjoy early use of the ski resorts and winter scenery in northeast China.
Creating snow sculptures in Harbin may also begin early, though the Ice and Snow Festival doesn't officially begin until January 5th.
