Heat Sweeps over Xinjiang in Northern China

Xinjiang in North China was hit by a strong heat wave with the highest temperature at the outside of the Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Cave reaching 55 centigrade degrees. The Flaming Mountain, another tourist highlights in the region, feels like a flaming ball, setting off fierce heat in the fiery sun and the highest temperature in the area soared up to 70 centigrade degree.

 

Temperature in the Turpan city climbed to 45 centigrade degree yesterday, according to the Turpan Weather Bureau.

 

Other places suffered from severe heat including Yili, Karamay, Jichang and Urumqi, capital of the province, with most of whose temperatures reaching above 37 centigrade degree. Temperature in Urumqi even soaked to 39 centigrade degree, the highest the city has seen in this summer.
