New Holiday Plan was released

After more than one year of research and being released on the Internet in order to collect public opinion, the new holiday plan was announced by the Chinese Government on Friday to shorten the "Golden Week" of the May Day holiday and to make Tomb-Sweeping Day, the Dragon-Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival legal holidays. 

According to the New Plan, May Day Holiday will be shortened to one day only. And the traditional festival, like the Tomb-sweeping Day, Dragon-Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn day will have one day off as the legal holiday. The National Day will remain the same in 2008. The Spring Festival holiday a day earlier - from the Lunar New Year's Eve - instead of the New Year's Day.

The new holiday plan increases the number of public holidays from 10 to 11 days. The new holiday plan was supported by the majority of 1.3 million people who voted online.Since  "Golden Week" of the May Day holiday was canceled, there will be no worry for foreign travelers to avoid the crowd in this period. The new holiday plan will take effect in January 1st 2008.
