2nd Longji Terraced Fields Cultural Festival to Be Held June 10–13

The second Longsheng Longji Terraced Fields Cultural Festival is going to be held together with a Dragon Dance Competition in Longsheng County from June 10 to 13, 2013.

Longsheng Ethnic Customs and Cultures

Longsheng County is in the northwest of Guilin Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is not only famous for its beautiful rice terraces , but also for its ethnic customs and cultures.

Known as a "Hundred Festival County", Longsheng has 10 ethnic groups, including Han, Zhuang, Yao, Miao, and Dong, which makes its ethnic customs and cultures diverse, rich, and colorful.

According to the incomplete statistics, there are 87 festivals in Longsheng County, including the famous ones: Spring Plowing Festival, Drying Clothes Festival, Hundred Family Banquet, and Drum Tower Cultural Festival, attracting a great number of domestic and foreign tourists every year.

Festival Activities

During the Terraced Fields Festival, various ethnic festival activities will be held, such as: the opening ceremony dragon parade, dragon boat invitational race, female scramble for lucky firecrackers, ethnic customs and culture displays, folk song competition, dragon culture shows, and "chicken blood jade" auction.

Travel Essentials

The Longji terraced fields, situated 27 km from Longsheng Town, and 80 km from downtown Guilin, is a year-round tourist destination, offering its seasonal beauty for photography.

Getting there: Buses from Guilin to Longsheng depart every 40 minutes from 06:40 till 18:00. The journey takes about two hours and costs around 29 yuan.
