Beautiful, smiling attendants for Olympic Hotels
With the approach of the 2008 Olympics, hotels in Beijing are busy selecting satisfactory new staff throughout the country. The latest job affair held in Chongqing in southwest China saw over 50 hotels in Beijing who offered over 3,000 positions. This time, those employers have shifted the requirements on knowledge of hotel service to emphasis on the applicant's ability of English speaking and appearance.
The stern standard on appearance have shut the door on many applicants. Those who are taller, shorter, fatter, thinner than the standard range in height and weight were all refused. A girl was reported being not employed because of 2 cm higher than the criteria of being less than 173 cm high.
Tens of thousands of young girls attended the first round of interviews but only 1,000 meet is supposed to meet their standard and enter further interviews.
