Wuhan - Yichang High-Speed Railway to Open in Mid-June
The Wuhan Railways Administration recently said that the Wuhan–Yichang High-Speed Railway was to open in mid-June, 2012. It came into use on July 1st, 2012.
Now the high-speed railway is open, the traveling time from Wuhan to Yichang is shortened from more than 5 hours to about 90 minutes. Passengers can also take a bullet train from Yichang to Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou without transferring.
There are many bullet trains running between Wuhan, Hankou, Wuchang, and Yichang every day. The ticket prices for a first-class seats range from 103 yuan to 114 yuan,and prices for a second-class seat range from 85 yuan to 95 yuan.
Trains from Hankou pass through Hanchuan, Tianmen South Station, Xiantao West Station, Qianjiang, Jingzhou, Zhijiang, and finally arrives at Yichang.
Wuhan has three railway stations, and Wuhan Railway Station is the farthest from the city center. Most bullet trains start off at Hankou Railway Station. These three railway stations have different train lines to Yichang. Customers can buy train tickets from any station.
There are five ways for customers to buy the tickets: online, by telephone, auto ticket selling machine, railway station ticket selling window, and local train ticket office. Customers can book the tickets by telephone or online at most 12 days before the departure, but only 10 days in advance using a railway station ticket selling window or local train ticket office.

The earliest train from Hankou to Yichang is D5811, which starts off at 06:15 and arrives at 08:28. The latest train is D5872/D5873 leaving at 20:20 and arriving at 22:29.
The earliest train from Yichang to Hankou is D5854/D5851. It sets out at 07:30 from Yichang East Railway Station and arrives at Wuhan at 10:14. The last train from Yichang to Hankou is D5832, departing at 21:45 and arriving at 23:45.
