Xiamen Airlines Establishes Base In Tianjin
Xiamen Airlines has established a base company in Tianjin and has opened a new international route from Tianjin to Singapore via Xiamen.
Xiamen Airlines is beginning to implement its strategic base expansion in northern China. Xiong Jianping, vice mayor of Tianjin, and Li Jian, vice director of The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, attended the opening ceremony of Xiamen Airlines Tianjin Branch in early February.
As an economic center of the area surrounding the Bohai Sea, Tianjin will build the Tianjin Binhai International Airport into a base for cargo and a main airport for passenger transport in the northern market, together with Beijing Capital International Airport forming the international aviation hub.
Currently, an eco-city project signed between China and Singapore is to begin in Tianjin and will commence construction soon. Tourism and business ties between Tianjin and Singapore are expected to be on the increase when Xiamen Airlines commences the new international route to Singapore.
In addition, the company also plans to open a regional route to Macau via Hangzhou next month. Both the new routes are same-day round-trip flights. Xiamen Airlines has said that it will open more routes and expand the number of aircraft based in Tianjin to three this year.
