The Forthcoming Yarlung Cultural Festival in Lhoka, Tibet

The 2012 Yarlung Cultural Festival will be held from August 15 to 21 in Tsetang County, Lhoka Prefecture, Tibet.

There are more 20 cultural activities during this Yarlung Cultural Festival, such as some Tibetan art performances and exhibitions, cultural heritage shows, the first Lhoka youth singing contest as well as ethnic sports competitions.

In addition, a number of ethnic and regional tourism activities will last until October. Travelers can get close to experience Tibetan culture in micro traveling in Lhoka, holy weddings and ethic cultural custom tours of Ongkor Festival and Herdsmen's Festival.

Lhoka Prefecture is regarded as the cradle of Tibetan culture with a long history and a great wealth of culture. Furthermore, Yarlung river valley has made a huge impact on the generation, development and transmission of Tibetan culture.
