Direct Train to Connect Urumqi and Dunhuang

To provide more convenience and choices to those who want to travel to Dunhuang, the Urumqi Railway Bureau will open a new tourist train service connecting Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China with Dunhuang on April 18 when the railway system raises its railway speed the 6th time.

 

The train will pass through many famous tourist cities and stop at Turpan, the oasis on the ancient Chinese Silk Road. Tourists who want to visit Dunhuang by train will benefit a lot because there are now no direct train service between the two cities and train travelers have to stop at Liuyuan station first, and then proceed to Dunhuang by coach.

 

Dunhuang, the glittering pearl on the ancient Silk Road is littered with abundant historical sites and cultural heritage. Apart from the unrivaled Buddhist carvings in Mogao Grottos, the White Horse Pagoda, the old Yangyuan City and Han Dynasty Beacon Lights are all well worth seeing.
