Forbidden City to take a glorious view ahead of Olympics

Beijing will kick off a night viewing projects for the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and Guozijian (or the Imperial College) recently. The illumination projects will be completed next year before the Olympic Games start, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

When the projects finish, visitors can see that illuminating lights in Qianmen, Xuanwumen, and Chongwenmen, the Forbidden City and the corner towers will form a whole part when seen from the sky. At present, the scheme is still under deliberation.

The illumination project for the Forbidden City will cost about 11.14 million yuan and the major buildings there that will be lit are the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony and the Hall of Preserved Harmony. The lights will be placed on special vehicles which will work on festive occasions and will be moved away when the festivals end.
