Honeymooners’ Special Gift from China Highlights
A newly married couple from Ireland, Patricia and Paul, honeymooned in China recently, and they arrived at Guilin last week. Their travel advisor, Grace Wang, considerately presented a special seal as a gift to give China Highlights’ best wishes to their marriage.
The reddish brown seal (see illustration at right) was made by stone. The grip portion of the seal was carved into a perched dragon, and the seal face was engraved with several words (which was included in a heart-shaped motif). The words are the couple’s names and a Chinese phrase: 相亲相爱, which means “loving each other devotedly”.
The couple’s 15-day trip covered the destinations of the Three Gorges, Chongqing, Chengdu, Leshan, Jiuzhai Valley, Xi’an, Guilin and Yangshuo. In fact, China Highlights has designed some honeymoon tours, which include some interesting activities for honeymooners, such as staying at a Chinese traditional courtyard hotel and making a Chinese Knot which is often associated with love and happy marriage; taking a night cruise in Wuzhen, the “Venice of the East”; and taking a Hutong rickshaw to travel around the tea houses, local people’s houses and the Drum and Bell Towers in Beijing. However, Patricia and Paul’s trip cannot include the above activities; hence, China Highlights’ considerate travel advisors discussed and determined to present the tailored seal, hoping to bring more sweet memories to them.
