Hainan Island to Exempt Taxes on Imported Goods February 10, 2014

Hainan, a tropical island province in southern China, will implement a duty-free policy for tourists since April 20, announced by China’s Ministry of Finance. By that time, all visitors (aged 18 and above) to Hainan Province depart the island by air to other places in China can apply for the refunds with a total value of no more than 5,000 yuan (762 $) per person each time, but not tourists flying to foreign destinations.
