Lijiang to celebrate the "Romantic Chinese Valentine Day"

The traditional Chinese Valentine Day falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, in August 19th this year. This once popular ancient occasion had been largely forgotten by China's younger generation after China opened to the outside world in 1978 as the St, Valentine's Day since ever flowed into China, which catches more attention. But it has gradually resurged in recent years as more young lovers begin to understand the profoundly cultural sense of true love contained in this simple day.

The ancient town of Lijiang in southwest China's Yunnan Province is considered as the best place for the lovers to celebrate that day, partly because the air of colorful romance and passion of the place is more likely to induce a feeling of affection, enhancing their love for each other.

Lijiang, with its tender willows lined canals, aged wooden houses hanging red lanterns and the splendid Naxi culture has been internationally acknowledged as one of the most romantic tourist destinations in China.

The event will last for 7 days, each day with a theme associated with love and the strong local tradition. Participants are expected to reach thousands.
