Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the world's highest railway, extends 1956 kilometers from Xining to Lhasa. Around 960 kilometers of its tracks are about 4,000 meters above sea level and the highest point is 5,072 meters. The railway will be put into operation on 1 July. The three first trains to run on the railway are trains from Beijing to Lhasa, Chengdu(Chongqing) to Lhasa and Xing-Lhasa.

The opening of the railway will provide more choices and convenience for travelers who want to explore the mystical highland of Tibet.  Compared with air travel, train travel through China's vast west area will offer a quite different experience and the scenery along the railway is stunninly beautiful, with vast grasslands, crystal alpine lakes, deep gorges, snow-capped mountains and much more.
