Xiamen-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway to Open in December

Xiamen–Shenzhen high-speed railway will open in September 2013. The 502-kilometers rail line will link two of China's economic zones: Fujian's Xiamen and Guangdong's Shenzhen. It will be another important section of China's coastal railway artery.

Xiamen–Shenzhen high-speed railway will run through 20 stations in eight cities: Shenzhen, Huizhou, Shanwei, Puning, Shantou, Chaozhou, Zhangzhou, and Xiamen. Of these stations thirteen are in Guangdong.

With a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour, Xiamen–Shenzhen high-speed railway is expected to shorten travelling times between Shenzhen and Xiamen to 3 hours, 8 hours shorter than the current 11 hours.

According to rail department communications, it is estimated that the ticket price for Xiamen–Shenzhen high-speedrailway will be about 190 yuan for a first-class seat and 160 yuan for a second-class seat.
