The 4th Xinjiang International Tourism Festival kicks off
The 4th Xinjiang International Tourism Festival kicked off June 29th in Kuqa, the ancient capital of the Qiuci Kingdom in south Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and will continue to August 28th.
Since its debut in Urumqi, capital of the Uygur Autonomous Region in 2002, the event has been successfully held for four times with the last two venues in Yili and Turpan.
The theme of this year's event is "the magnificent ancient Qiuci culture" and various of celebrations and activities featuring the splendid local tradition have been arranged, which includes display on the art of Qiuci Buddhism cave, desert precious rock display, Akesu Forum and some academic lectures.
Kuqa in south Xinjiang is blessed with rich tourism resources ranging from the bleak desert scenery to the culturally profound Qiuci heritage and diverse ethnic minority flavor.
