Olympic Venue Facilities: introduction about the venue facilities for Beijing 2008 Olympic Game

Beijing Olympic Venue Facilities

Your ticket provides you with the only means of access to an Olympic venue, so before you set out, please take time to study it and make sure of the following elements:

A) Verify:

  1. The event: this is the competition you have the ticket for.
  2. Venue name.
  3. Venue address.
  4. Session ID number: this is the specific session you will watch (each session has been allocated a unique number).

B) Plan your time:

  1. Check the date and starting time of your competition.
  2. Most of venues are open to spectators two hours prior to the start of a competition. Upon arrival, follow the walkway from the transport drop-off point to the venue entrance where you will go through the security checkpoint. We recommend you try to arrive at the venue 1-2 hours before the scheduled start of competition.
  3. After the event, the venue will be cleared quickly, so an earlier arrival will allow time to buy souvenirs, take photos and enjoy the atmosphere.

C) Place your tickets in a safe place:

  1. Do not remove the ticket stub yourself as this will invalidate your ticket.
  2. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games are using an electronic ticket system, so we recommend that you take steps to avoid your tickets from being harmed in any way.

D) Find your seat:

  1. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games venues use 5 separate designations "entrance, gate, sector, aisle, row, seat" to help you identify the location of your seat. Please follow the direction signs or instructions of the venue staff.
  2. Most of the competition venues only use 4 separate designations: "gate, sector, aisle and seat."
  3. Unless otherwise advised, we please only sit in your designated seat.
  4. Seating for tennis, shooting, archery, hockey, triathlon, modern pentathlon, canoe / kayak is or organized by sector only. Please follow direction signs or the instructions of the staff.

Ticket Office

Around the main entrance of each venue, there are one or two ticket offices, selling tickets of all events except those in Hong Kong. Each of the offices begins its service three days before the event in that venue. The business time starts from 2 hours before the first match until the 30 minutes after the last match begins each day.

On-site medical clinics are available for spectators. Preliminary diagnosis and treatment is free of charge. If necessary, ambulances are available to transport patients to nearby designated hospitals. All medical expenses incurred outside the venue must be covered by the patient.

Public Telephones

All competition venues have public phones which only accept IC cards. Please purchase these cards in newspaper kiosks or telecommunication service halls outside the venue before you enter.

Facilities for the Disabled

All venues are fitted with access ramps, special toilets, seats and elevators for the disabled and routes marked for the blind. For any special needs or additional assistance, please ask the spectator staff (identifiable by their yellow star badges).

Meeting Points

All venues have one or two spectator entrances and it is easy to get lost or separated in the crowds. Before entering, we recommend you identify a meeting point, such as a service booth or some other visible landmark inside the venue, where you can meet up.
