Places to go shopping in Beijing
From high-priced shops to street retailers, there are hundreds to choose from, but most of the tourists end up at the Silk Market (former Xiushui Street) and the Sanlitun Clothing Market.
Silk Market is not as the name shows just selling silk. It is a huge building full of shops with everything unimaginable in. Bargaining is a necessary skill here if want to have the stuff at a fair price. Most of the time, merchants will quote you a couple of times inflated price for you. If you find it is difficult to bargain, these places are not for you. I suggest you to shop at the Wangfujing Street where big stores, no bargaining, and the most important thing is the quality guaranteed.
