Compared with other cities, Sanya is warmer during January, with an average temperature of 21 (69.8 °F). The sun is abundant and shines brightly, making Sanya good place for escaping the cold winter.

Despite the warm weather, you are still advised to take a sweater. You can wear a cotton long-sleeve shirt or blouse during the daytime and add a sweater or an overcoat in the evening. For the ladies, wearing a dress is fine during the daytime while jeans and cotton socks are good for the evening.

The temperature of the seawater is 15 °C (59 °F) to 18 °C (64.4 °F) and you can go swimming at noon and in the early afternoon. Despite it being winter, the ultraviolet rays are strong, so wear a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Since January falls during the busy tourism season, book a hotel room and tickets in advance. Hi, I am English with a Chinese wife. We live in Fushun, Liaoning province, China.We are looking for a cheap holiday of 8-10 days from the 5th or 6th january.The purpose of the holiday is relaxation. Tour groups spend too much time visiting `shops` rather than relaxing. we want to get there, have a reasonable hotel and relax. We want to decide when and where to go shopping etc. I and we have used hostels before so such are no problem.Money is the issue as I am NOT rich!So now you know....!!!!
