Tonghua Transportation

Three railway lines run across Tonghua City including Shenyang-Jilin line, Meihekou-Ji'an line and Tonghua-Huijiang line. The railway station is seated at the Jianshe Avenue (建设大街), offering passenger direct trains to Beijing, Shenyang, Changchun, Qingdao, Dalian, Baihe, Quanyang, Dandong and other places. Passengers can take city buses No. 1, No. 6 and No. 42 to the station. Another railway station, in addition, is located in the Erdaojiang District (二道江区), east part of Tonghua City, about 8 km from the urban area. It provides short-distance trains to places inside Tonghua City and cities nearby like Linjiang, Ji'an, Tonghua and Baihe. Check the train schedule in Tonghua.

It is very convenient to travel by highway in Tonghua. The long-distance bus station is located at the same street as the railway station, with a distance of about 300 meters (984 ft). The bus station offers access to Liaoyuan, Changchun, Jilin, Siping, Fushun, Dandong, Dalian, Anshan and the surrounding suburban counties of Tonghua City. The long-distance bus from Tonghua to Baihe charges 48 yuan per person. It starts from Tonghua Terminal (the old station), with a mileage of 285 km and a journey of about 6 hours.

Taxis are rare in Tonghua City. If any, the flag fall price is normally Y5 (Y1.20 per km), the cheapest of any major city of this size. Beware of the swarms that hover around bus stops or stations, especially after dark looking for multiple long distance fares which don't require using the meter. Generally, it takes no more than 15 yuan to anywhere in the city.

Tricycles are an ideal mode of transport for this city of narrow windy streets. Fares are negotiable for one or two passengers. Generally, it takes two to three yuan for relatively a short distance and five to ten yuan for a long distance.
