Comfort Discovery Essential

4 weeks from US$ 3636! Full Itinerary

The following program is specifically designed to offer students who would like to focus on immersion Chinese learning. All students will attend 20 hours of group language lessons per week at the Chinese Language Institute (CLI). This program provides them an opportunity to live with a local family, providing insight into a typical Chinese family's lifestyle. We partner together with the Guangxi Normal University (GXNU), CLI’s affiliate to select the home-stay families. Additional activities and site visits may be added to the below schedule either before or during the program. Students are warmly encouraged to inform team leaders of any requests or questions that may arise. Our team here is also on hand to assist.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is CLI and how are they qualified?

CLI was founded by two American brothers who have lived, worked and studied in China for a combined 15 years. With highly personalized service and a carefully developed language learning environment at its core, CLI strives to be the premier intensive Mandarin program in China. Since its inception, CLI has hosted hundreds of students from over 25 countries and several of the world’s top universities, including Harvard, Yale, Oxford and Columbia. CLI has been featured in Washington Post, China Daily and educational journals across the country, and now occupies its own 5-story learning center in the beautiful southern city of Guilin. In 2012, Frommer's travel guide recommended CLI as one of the top Mandarin programs in China.

Is Guilin a safe city?

Guilin is a remarkably pleasant and safe city. Elementary school children walk home from school in groups of two or more without parental supervision. Foreigners are treated extremely well, as they are viewed as guests to the city. Guilin’s local residents are known to go out of their way to assist foreigners with any needs or concerns that may arise.

What does our Chinese classes involve each morning of the week?

All students will take group class during the morning. Daily group lessons with three unique CLI instructors will give you the perfect opportunity to constantly advance and validate your Chinese language skills. There are 3 types of Chinese classes. 10 hours per week for comprehensive Chinese learners, where your teachers will help you focus on grammar and daily conversational skills. 6 hours per week for spoken Chinese, providing you abundant opportunities to practice your language skills. 4 hours per week for Chinese characters, learning the skill of mastering Chinese characters will give students an insight and heart of the culture.

How can you ensure the safety and welfare of our children?
  1. Well-selected home-stay family members will walk your children between their homes and schools.
  2. Your children will be accompanied by professional international and local teams during classes and outdoor activities.
  3. A one to one buddy-system can be provided for each child. This ‘buddy’ is also carefully chosen from a nearby school to partner with your child. However, an extra cost of about US$66 per person per week to help cover the cost of this ‘buddy’ for your child.
  4. We have emergency and 24/7 Hotline phone available for them to contact us anytime.
What are the home-stay families like?

The families are well selected and from standing backgrounds. Most of them are teachers from nearby Guangxi Normal University. There will be 3 people in one family, parents with one child. We also make every effect to ensure that they do not have any criminal background.

Will my kid be taken somewhere without supervised?

All the children will be under supervision during the entire program from their arrival to Guilin until their departure. Teachers will stay with them during classes, meals, outdoor activities and tours. The home-stay hosts will accompany them between their homes and school. Their Chinese Pengyous (1 to 2 or 1 to 1) will be with them all the time.

What if my child got sick or if there was an emergency during the program?

Should an emergency arise, we will take your child to Guilin’s number 1 hospital – Guilin People’s Hospital.  You will also be contacted with regards to any emergency and treatment.   We also have a 24/7 hotline, in which we can be contacted anytime.

Please check here to see what we could do if health issue is occurred: http://www.chinahighlights.com/aboutus/because-we-care.htm

What will the transportation be like?

The bus we use for outdoor activities or tours will be air-conditioned (less than 5 years). We always provide a vehicle that is larger than required for the number of people in the group to keep at least 20% vacancy rate. Our drivers are experienced and we ensure that they understand all safety rules with our groups/tours.

What do your previous customers say?
