Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Beijing

Your tour starts with a private guide and driver picking you up from the airport and escorting you to your hotel.

Day 2: Beijing: Great Wall, Kungfu Show in Red Theater

The Great Wall is one of the most amazing sights in China, and in Mutianyu it combines with the stunning scenery of mountains and valleys. A cable car takes you up in comfort and there is even an option to toboggan down.
The evening entertainment is by Kungfu Show in Red Theater, a troupe of country’s best performers in beautiful staging.

 
Day 3: Beijing: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Hutong Tour, Chinese Paper Cutting

Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City were originally actually part of the same complex, the Imperial Palace. The golden roofs of the gate buildings, halls and living quarters all mark the emperor’s domain.

Our unique Hutong Tour takes you to different Beijing, where narrow alleys lead to courtyard houses. A visit to a local family who has lived there for centuries and a rickshaw ride makes the visit even more enjoyable.
Making paper cutting pictures is an old tradition of Northern China, and you have an opportunity to learn some of the skills required for this delicate craft.
Dinner at Hepingmen Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant ends the day, this world famous delicacy is worth coming to savor in the place where it was developed.

 
Day 4: Beijing: Summer Palace, Exterior visit to Bird's Nest and Water Cube; Flight to Xi’an

The Summer Palace is one of the most beautiful parks in Beijing, as well as a palace complex. The vast lake is surrounded by willows and tranquil walkways. Enjoy a boat ride out onto the lake in the dragon boat styled ferry.
A stop to see the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, the Olympic Stadiums, introduces these famous buildings through a visit to the surrounding park to appreciate the outside structure.
On your flight to Xi’an you can relax in the knowledge that a private car will take you directly to your down town hotel, Sofitel on Renmin Square.

 
Day 5: Xi’an: Terracotta Army, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Imperial Banquet & Show

The Terracotta Warriors and Horses are unparalleled in the world by the sheer number of exquisite works of art discovered in a single tomb. Work continues still, the site continues to reveal objects through the continuing archeological dig.
Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the grounds of a Buddhist temple has an illustrious history and is one of the landmarks in the city; enjoy the view and the surrounding gardens.
Tang Imperial Banquet & Show is an enjoyable way to end the day. It tells the story of Xi’an golden era through songs and dances while you enjoy a delicious dinner.

 
Day 6: Xi’an: Shaanxi History Museum, Xi’an City Wall, Muslim Quarters, Shadow Theater

Shaanxi History Museum has a great collection of the most significant finds in China, focused on the history of this cradle of Chinese culture. Xi’an City Wall is a rampart so large that carriages, or rickshaws, can easily ride along the top. A bicycle ride is another way to enjoy the views of the old part of the town, just let your guide know your preference.
The Muslim Quarters have a story to tell about the Islamic history of this ancient part of the Silk Route. Keep on the lookout for one unique shopping street that still has the original bluestone paving.
Gao's Courtyard is a well preserved residence of a Ming Dynasty high ranking official; the wooden screens form a fitting backdrop to the ancient art form of Shadow Play.

 
Day 7: Fly to Guilin: Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill

Guilin has the “most beautiful scenery under the heaven” according to an old Chinese saying, and this afternoon you see Reed Flute Cave with its glistening stalactites and stalagmites, and Elephant Trunk Hill, the symbol of Guilin’s karst mountain landscape.
You hotel tonight is the Sheraton by a lovely river walk, right in the heart of Guilin.

 
Day 8: Guilin: Li River Cruise, Yangshuo Countryside Cycling

Li River Cruise takes you middle of a scenery familiar from Chinese paintings: strange shaped mountains surrounded by bamboo forests and fields where water buffaloes wade. While you relax and take it all in, chefs from an award winning restaurant prepare a private gourmet meal for you.
After the cruise you get closer to the landscape through cycling in the Yangshuo Countryside. Picturesque lanes wind through paddy fields and orchards, and a visit to a local farming family gives that extra special touch to the experience.

 
Day 9: Flight to Chongqing: Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo, Ciqikou Old Town, Yangtze Cruise

The Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo is the highlight of China experiences to all animal lovers, these delightful creatures and their offspring in the nursery show what great work is being done is preserving the endangered species.
Ciqikou Old Town still has the charm of the ancient streets despite some restoration work; the local snacks are worth having a nibble of. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the dock to board the Yangtze Cruise Boat, which will depart later in the evening.

 
Day 10: Yangtze: Tai chi Exercise, Shore Excursion to Shibaozhai, Welcoming Banquet, Dancing Party

In the morning you can choose to try some Taichi exercises in fresh air with the mountains as a backdrop. In the afternoon there is a short visit Shibaozhai, a beautiful 12-tiered pagoda built in 1750, and now protected by a small dam from the risen water level. An optional tour to Fengdu Ghost City offers a cable car ride to the top of the small mountain with great views.
The evening passes quickly at the Welcoming Banquet and you can dance the night away in the after party, or go to the deck to watch the scenery glide by.

 
Day 11: Yangtze: Tai chi Exercise, Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, Shennong Stream, Crew's Performance

Again the optional morning exercises on the deck start the day, and then you can relax and watch the breathtaking cliffs of Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge majestically pass by.

Shennong Stream excursion in the afternoon lets you enjoy the stunning surroundings closer by; the clear waters of gushing streams and waterfalls, and the ancient walkways are truly memorable . You can also choose to visit the White Emperor City, an ancient town now forming an island, as the base of the mountain is beneath the water level.

 
Day 12: Yangtze: Three Gorges Dam (Fly to Shanghai)

The cruise ends near the Three Gorges Dam, a famously controversial marvel of engineering. You can walk on top of the dam and enjoy the views to valley below. From Yicheng a private car takes you to the airport for your flight to Shanghai.
Your hotel, the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, is one of the highest hotels in the world; the atrium is on the 54th floor.

 
Day 13: Shanghai: Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Yuyuan Garden, The Bund, Shangcheng Acrobatic Show

The day starts with a stunning view from the viewing platform of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, and a short visit to the museum attached, which focuses on Shanghai’s history.
Yuyuan Garden is a stunning landscaping achievement from the Ming Dynasty, created to have gardens within gardens. The surrounding Yuyuan Market is almost bazaar like in its atmosphere and in the amount of goods for sale.
No visit to Shanghai would be complete without strolling on the Bund, and guessing which European country the design of each facade is originally from.
Shangcheng Acrobatic Show is a sparkling extravaganza of light and movement and has won several awards. We’re sure you’ll enjoy the show.

 
Day 14: Depart Shanghai

The day is yours to perhaps do some shopping; some of the best places are near your hotel. Your guide and driver will be ready to take you to the airport when you wish.
