Day 2

Place & Transport: Beijing
Today's Activities: The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Chinese Lunch at Jing Mian Da Wang Restaurant (Di'anmen Branch)

- The Forbidden City (2.5 hours): The Forbidden City was home to 24 emperors between 1368 and 1911.This "city within a city" is a World Heritage Site, and is the largest and the best preserved ancient imperial architecture complex in the world, with great square, halls and gates contrast with intricate halls, gardens, courtyards and quarters. The exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, are all important treasures of ancient China.
- Tiananmen Square (50 minutes): Tian'anmen Square is the largest city square in the centre of Beijing, named after the Tiananmen (literally, Gate of Heavenly Peace) which sits to its north, separating it from the Forbidden City. It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several key events in Chinese history. As the world's largest city square and enduring symbol of China's national pride, it is surrounded by many imposing buildings including the Heavenly Gate (entry to the Forbidden City), Museums, government buildings and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum.
- Summer Palace (1.5 hours): Much-loved summer retreat of the Imperial families, the lovely landscaped gardens, halls, pavilions and corridors are set around the lake and rivers in natural harmony. It is the largest and best preserved imperial garden in China, and also a World Heritage Site.
- Jing Mian Da Wang Restaurant (Di'anmen Branch): This restaurant of typical Chinese style, it serves authentic dishes of Old Beijing fare - hand-pulled noodles, cold dishes, snack foods and more. Having the taste of the tasty noodles, usually eaten with a thick sesame and soy-based sauce.

Day 3

Mutianyu Great Wall
 

Place & Transport: Beijing
Today's Activities: The Mutianyu Great Wall(with round way cable car)
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch at Xin Shuang Quan Restaurant

- The Mutianyu Great Wall(with round way cable car) (2 hours): This less-crowded section of the Great Wall is a about 2.5 hours' drive from downtown Beijing. A cable car takes you to a good section (avoiding a very steep climb), where you can walk along the wall, through the watch towers and enjoy superb views as it snakes across the hills and mountains. You can return by cable car, walk down or walk along the wall for about an hour to descend by chairlift. Wear good walking shoes and protection from the weather.
- Xin Shuang Quan Restaurant: Xin Shuang Quan Restaurant is near Great Wall of Mutianyu section. This garden style restaurant serves farmhouse dishes, specializing in rainbow trout, sturgeon and salmon. The fabulous taste will leave you with great memories.

Day 4

Today's Activities: The White Cloud Taoist Temple, Temple of Heaven, Hotel to Train station Transfer (Beijing)
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch at Traditional Mongolian Restaurant

- The White Cloud Taoist Temple (1 hour): It's the largest Taoist Temple Architecture of All-True (Quanzhen) School existing at Beijing. The temple was initially built in Kaiyuan Year of the Tang Dynasty. The architecture is magnificent and pretty and decorative mainly with the Taoist patterns such as glossy ganoderma, Eight Immortals, Eight Diagrams, red-crowned cranes, full of the features of Taoism.
- Temple of Heaven (1.5 hours): Built in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty, Temple of Heaven is a complex of Taoist buildings where emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties visited for annual ceremonies of pray for good harvests. Located in the south of Central Beijing, it covers an area of 273 hectares. Temple of Heaven was enrolled as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998.
- Traditional Mongolian Restaurant: Traditional Mongolian Restaurant is located near the Forbidden City. It serves northern Chinese food based on Mongolia cuisine. It brings Mongolia's long and distinguished cultural and literary history. A traditional Mongolian yurt (tent) is available on the third floor but a reservation is needed and a surcharge applies. Live performances of Mongolian music are sometimes preformed in the restaurant.

 

Day 5

Wudang-travel
 

Place & Transport: Overnight train to Shiyan to Wudang Shan
Today's Activities: Train station Transfer (Shiyan), , Mount Wudang, Our guide and driver will escort you from Shiyan to Wudang Shan
Meals: Chinese Dinner

- Mount Wudang: It's located in Wudang Town of Shiyan City, in the north of Hubei Province. Mi Fu, a great painter and calligrapher in Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), regarded it as the Number One Mountain under Heaven. With its many peaks, gullies, ravines, streams, and waterfalls, Mount Wudang is famous for its ancient building complex. There are also many Taoist monasteries.

Yangtze River Cruise
 

Place & Transport: Wudang Shan to Yichang to Yangtze,
Today's Activities: Hotel to bus station Transfer (Wudang Shan), Express bus station transfer (Yichang), Cruise pier Transfer (Yichang), Board the ship from 5:00pm to 10:00pm and departs Yichang at night--00:00am.(Dinner is not included)

Day 8

 

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: Passes though the 1st Gorge----Xiling Gorge
Shore excursion to Three Gorges Dam Site.
Passes though the 5-steps ship locks.
Captain's Welcoming Banquet.
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner

--Three Gorges Dam, the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man and it has been a dream for several generations of Chinese people. The construction of the dam formally began in 1994. The body of the dam was completed in 2003, and the whole construction has been completed in 2009. It will be 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide on the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom.The tourists can get access to the top of the dam and enjoy different kinds of photo opportunities.

 

Day 9

The Shennong Stream
 

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: Shore excursion to Shennong Stream(8:00-12:30).You have the option of visiting White Emperor City(RMB260 per person).
Passes though the 2nd gorge--Wu gorge.
Passes though the 3rd gorge--Qutang.

--Shennong Stream is another tributary of the Yangtze River, and its fast-flowing, crystal clear water runs southwards through deep gorges. The stream races past large and small karst caves, flocks of swallows, sheer cliffs, deep gorges, waterfalls, three-colored springs, rapids, the ancient plank path, a suspended coffin in the cliff, groups of ancient tombs and marvelous karst formations.

 

Day 10

 

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: Shore excurison to Fengdu Ghost City(8:30am-10:30am).
Captain’s Farewell Banquet.

--Fengdu is where the devil lives, according to Chinese legend. They say that spirits go to heaven, and evil goes to Fengdu. The town is overlooked by Ming Shan Hill, home of Tianzi, the King of the Dead. The whole place has an eerie feel to it with deserted streets, tower blocks, empty shops and banks. The only people here are those who make a living from visiting cruise boats.

 

Day 11

Dazu Rock Carvings
 

Place & Transport: Yangtze to Chongqing
Today's Activities: Cruise pier Transfer (Chongqing), Dazu Grottoes, One day tour in Dazu, Arrives in Chongqing at 9:00am.
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

- Dazu Grottoes (5 hours): Dazu is a county under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality. It is 83 kilometers to the west of the Chongqing metropolitan area and 256 kilometers to the east of Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. The Dazu Grottoes spread across more than 75 sites in the county, and contain over 50,000 stone sculptures carved from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). They are mainly located on Baoding (Treasure Peak) Mountain, Beishan (Northern) Mountain, Shimen (Stone Gate) Mountain, Nanshan (Southern) Mountain, and Shizhuan Mountain.

--Half Day car/van Rental : During your half-day tour by our offering car/van, our guide will acompany you all through your trip towards Chongqing.
- Goose Neck Park (1 hour): Very popular with the locals who come here to enjoy the gardens, play Mahjohngg, make music or just relax. Nice views over the river and Chongqing, there are also a number of interesting buildings and former Embassies in the grounds, plus an enormous long painting of the Yangtze.
- Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo (2 hours): Located in the western suburbs of the city, Chongqing Zoo occupies an area of 45 hectares. There are some rare animals including Golden hair monkeys and South China Tigers. In Panda Room, visitors can see the giant and lesser pandas and their offspring.In the mornings, many local people practice Tai chi at the zoo. Join them if you wish.
- Cai Xiang Yuan Restaurant (Yangjiaping Branch): Located close to the Chongqing Zoo, Cai Xiang Yuan Restaurant serves with dishes are cooked with local flavors and ingredients. Cantonese dishes are also available.

    As outlined in the itinerary an English-speaking guide and driver will be provided in each city, who will remain with you throughout your time in that city. A new guide and a new driver will meet you at each city on your tour, to provide you with the best local knowledge available.

    Hotel fees are based on two people sharing one room with twin beds.
    All hotels as listed in the above itinerary serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.

  • Yangtze River Cruises:
    The price quoted for a Yangtze River Cruise includes all meals onboard, and all land excursions including the smaller cruise fee to Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream. (Optional land excursions are available for a few ships which will be specially noted.) The price does not include any incidental charges, including room service, mini bar, laundry, and drinks and bar charges, tipping, etc.
