8 Days Yunnan Tiger Leaping Gorge Hiking Tour

Day 1

Place & Transport: Arrive in Lijiang
Today's Activities: The Ancient City
Detailed Itinerary: We will have a guide to meet your group at the airport and help you to check in. Afternoon will be free for you to explore the old city which owns several open canals and dramatic wooden houses.

Day 2

Place & Transport: Lijiang
Today's Activities: Shuhe Naxi Village, The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Yak Meadow
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Detailed Itinerary: This morning, you will set out to have a close up view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain which you may have appreciated her at a distance when walking down the street. Yak Meadow is one of the three viewing platforms where you can enjoy typical meadow scenery, taste Tibetan snacks and take a ride on the half way of the mountain. Please also takes some warm clothes for you are getting up to an elevation of more than 3500m. In the afternoon, you will visit another naxi village known as Suhe or Longquan. It is a well preserved important town on the ancient tea and horse route.

Day 3

Place & Transport: Lijiang
Today's Activities: Tiger Leaping Gorge, Hetaoyuan
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner
Detailed Itinerary: Today your will head north and hike along the Yangtze River and view the First Bend( where the river makes a U-turn and heads north) on the way to Tiger Leaping Gorge. Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of the world's four great gorges. It is still wild though many visitors come yearly and it is the paradise for hiking groups. When heading north in the afternoon, you will come across Hetaoyuan, a real heaven with all the villagers leading the simplest of lives. The houses are built with giant rocks. You will spend a night in the small hotel which is the only choice for visitors who venture here.

Day 4

Place & Transport: Lijiang
Today's Activities: Haba
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Detailed Itinerary: Continuing north to Haba Snow Mountain and visit small villages. There will be strenuous walking today but will appeal to who has social and geographical interests. Stay overnight in local families.

Day 5

Place & Transport: Lijiang to Zhongdian/Shangri-La
Today's Activities: Baishuitai
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Detailed Itinerary: Today will be one more strenuous hiking tour to Baishuitai, white water terrace, which means "growing flower" in Naxi. It is not only a place of beautiful scenery, it is also one of the birthplaces of Dongba Naxi culture, widely known around the world. Occupying an area of about 3 square kilometers with green plants and springs setting off each other, just like a "field in heaven". Reach the tibetan town-Shangri-la in the afternoon.

Day 6

Place & Transport: Zhongdian/Shangri-La
Today's Activities: Songzanlin Lamasery, Lake Napa, Visit Tibetan Family
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Detailed Itinerary: Spend a day of visiting Songzanlin Lamasery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist Lamasery in Yunnan Province. It was built in the style of Potala Palace in Lhasa and represents the Tibetan culture, the statue of Buddhists and many precious cultural treasures will leave you with unforgettable memory. A visit to Napa Lake and Tibetan Family is also arranged today.

Day 7

Place & Transport: Zhongdian/Shangri-La to Kunming, Flight No. TBA
Today's Activities: Hotel to airport Transfer (Zhongdian/Shangri-La ), Airport to Hotel Transfer (Kunming), The Stone Forest
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Detailed Itinerary: Fly with morning flight from Shangri-la to Kunming and visit the Stone forest, a fantastic natural phenomena located 90 km southeast of Kunming. Walks needed when enjoy the various shapes of karst landscape. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this spring city.

Day 8

Place & Transport: Depart Kunming
Meals: Breakfast
Detailed Itinerary: After breakfast, you guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and transfer you to the airport. The great hiking tour concludes.
