Chengdu

The south-western city of Chengdu is the prosperous provincial capital of Sichuan. The area is famous for its wonderful spicy cuisine, breath-taking scenery, unique wildlife, and remarkable local culture. It is definitely a highlight to visit panda in Chengdu.
Festivals list:
Chengdu Lantern Festival(Feb. 12-Feb. 12, 2006): Chengdu Lantern Festival is on the basis of a traditional folk custom activity of appreciating lanterns in the fifteenth day of the first month in China’s lunar calendar. Now the festival lasts for a month. During the Lantern Festival, the folk art show and acrobatics are held in parks. People can also have a taste of a variety of local flavor snacks.
The Releasing Water Festival on Tomb Sweeping Day(Apr. 5-Apr. 5, 2006): Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, although completed over 2,000 years ago, still functions not only as a flood prevention mechanism, but also as an immense source of irrigation as well as a means to facilitate shipping and wood drifting these days. It has been the lifeblood of the Chengdu Plain for thousands of years. On every Tomb-sweeping Day before the season of spring ploughing, the water in the dam recedes, and a great ceremony has been always held. And high officials would be dressed in costumes, chanting the eulogy to Li Bing and his son’s contribution (Li Bing and his son are the builder of the project.).

Festivals list:
West Lake Expo(Dec. 10-Dec. 29, 2006): The First West Lake Expo was held in 1929 and has currently become the most famous festival displaying Hangzhou history, culture and scenery. There will held dozens of exhibitions, forums and performances, covering culture, art, fashion, technology, business, tourism food and other aspects.
West Lake International Fireworks Festival(Oct. 10-Oct. 31, 2006): Fireworks inverted in the West Lake form a stunning scene.
West Lake Lotus Festival(Jul. 1-Aug. 1, 2006): "Enjoying the beauty of lotus flowers, picking up seedpods of the lotus, peeling seedpods, cooking lotus meal, listening to folk drama, lighting lotus lanterns, Miss West Lake Lotus Photo Model Competition, and the Chinese lotus species exhibitions ".
Xihu (West Lake) Mid-Autumn Festival Evening Party(Oct. 5-Oct. 9, 2006): During the night of Mid-autumn Festival visitors can enjoy the performances like local dancing, acrobatics and folk music, while having a special dinner.

Festivals list:
Formula One(Apr. 17-Apr. 19, 2006): F1 is the abbreviation for Formula 1. In China, it is called the Class One Formula Race. The cars, which are made according to the same formula, are called Formula race. Among those classes, the top one is Formula 1. At present, the popularity of the F1 can be compared with the Olympics and the World Cup. Now there are ten racing teams. Every race, there are 20 drivers attending at most and each year there are 16 to 19 races. The race usually starts on the middle of the March and ends on the end of October. Each race can attract more than one billion audiences seeing it through TV and other mass medium.
The City Temple Fair(Feb. 11-Feb. 13, 2006): The City Temple in Shanghai enjoys a great reputation at home and abroad. It holds a series of temple fairs all year round due to the large number of temples and deities. Around the fifteenth day of the first month in China’s lunar calendar, (the Lantern Festival) each year, all shops and residences near the City Temple will hang ingenious lanterns in diverse shapes, like ingot, cornucopia, boats, lotus, bats, butterflies and toads, made of glass, and other lanterns like revolving scenic lanterns, rabbits, crabs, carps, shells, windmills made of silk or paper. Besides, some riddles will be hung on lanterns. What is more, both performances of “literary lanterns” and “military lanterns” will be held in streets. “Literary lanterns” performance team starts with south Yangzi string and pipe music (traditional stringed and woodwind instruments), followed by colorful paper lanterns with the shape of an umbrella. “Military lanterns” performance team is led by a strong rhythm of drums and gongs
