Tour of Hainan(Nov. 1-Nov. 30, 2009): Tour of Hainan is held around the end of a year. It has become one of the highest-leveled, largest-scaled international highway cycling races in the world. The race ranks intercontinental 2.1 grades; the route includes all types of road races, like flat roads, hills, mountains and others, with a total mileage of more than 1000 kilometers. Teams qualifying this race upgrade from UCI professional teams, UCI continental professional teams, UCI continental teams to national teams. Every year teams of high level are invited to the race from five continents. The race has set off a cycling boom in Hainan.

Formula One(Apr. 17-Apr. 19, 2009): F1 is the abbreviation for Formula 1. In China, it is called the Class One Formula Race. The cars, which are made according to the same formula, are called Formula race. Among those classes, the top one is Formula 1. At present, the popularity of the F1 can be compared with the Olympics and the World Cup. Now there are ten racing teams. Every race, there are 20 drivers attending at most and each year there are 16 to 19 races. The race usually starts on the middle of the March and ends on the end of October. Each race can attract more than one billion audiences seeing it through TV and other mass medium.
The City Temple Fair(Feb. 8-Feb. 10, 2009): The City Temple in Shanghai enjoys a great reputation at home and abroad. It holds a series of temple fairs all year round due to the large number of temples and deities. Around the fifteenth day of the first month in China’s lunar calendar, (the Lantern Festival) each year, all shops and residences near the City Temple will hang ingenious lanterns in diverse shapes, like ingot, cornucopia, boats, lotus, bats, butterflies and toads, made of glass, and other lanterns like revolving scenic lanterns, rabbits, crabs, carps, shells, windmills made of silk or paper. Besides, some riddles will be hung on lanterns. What is more, both performances of “literary lanterns” and “military lanterns” will be held in streets. “Literary lanterns” performance team starts with south Yangzi string and pipe music (traditional stringed and woodwind instruments), followed by colorful paper lanterns with the shape of an umbrella. “Military lanterns” performance team is led by a strong rhythm of drums and gongs
