Zhouxi Lusheng Festival Tour

The heart stirring sounds of massed Lusheng instruments, the colors of Miao costume and many other festive activities such as dancing, singing, bull-fighting, cock-fighting and horse racing are features of Lusheng. Festival held in Southeast Guizhou. This tour will give you an opportunity to join this large annual celebration held by the Miao ethnic minority.

Day 2

Place & Transport: Guiyang to Anshun to Guiyang
Today's Activities: Huangguoshu Waterfall and Tianxing Qiao Scenic Area, Our guide and driver will escort you from Anshun to Guiyang, Cultural Village in Tianlong, Batik Museum
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch at Local Restaurant

Huangguoshu Waterfall and Tianxing Qiao Scenic Area (3 hours): Located 43 km southwest of Anshun City in Guizhou Province, Huangguoshu Waterfalls are one of the largest waterfall groups in China. They have been found out that the falls in this area consist of 18 falls on the ground and 4 underground falls. Tianxing Qiao Scenic Area features the perfect combination of stones, trees and water, the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Zone is a natural miniascape evolving from the growing stone forests in water(Aquatic stone forest).

Local Restaurant: The limited restaurant options mean that there is no choice available however our guide will organize the best available based on the season and the surroundings.

Cultural Village in Tianlong (1.5 hours): Have a chance to see their traditional opera-Dixi(Ground Opera), which they perform at festivals and celebrations, renowned as "the living fossil of the ancient shows". The performers will put wooden on their forehead and ensure their voice could be heard by the audience.

Batik Museum: A small batik museum owned by one of the top 10 folk artists in China. Learn the traditional way of making batik by using a triangle copper tool.

Day 3

Place & Transport: Guiyang to KaiLi
Today's Activities: Shiqiao Miao village, Our guide and driver will escort you from Guiyang to KaiLi, Qingman Miao Village, Qingman Miao Village with Welcome Ceremony
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch

Shiqiao Miao village (1 hour): Visit Shiqiao Miao village to see its traditional way of making paper from the bark of mulberry tree. This method of making paper has a history of more than one thousand years, local people still keep it and extend to make color paper using different plants.

Qingman Miao Village (1 hour): You will be greeted into the village by drinking the block-way wine. Family visit will be arranged to see their wooden stilt house. You will have a chance to see their traditional way of dying fabric by using indigo.

Qingman Miao Village with Welcome Ceremony: A welcome ceremony is held when guests come to the village. The local villagers dress in their traditional Miao dress and line up on the both sides at the entrance of the village. One of the most important aspects of the ceremony is that you have to finish three cup of rice wine when the toasts are made by the girl in the ceremony. This signifies that a friend from afar is always warmly welcome. Not finishing means that you may be barred from the village.

Zhouxi Lusheng Festival: Zhouxi Lusheng Festival (It is called "Gan nangxiang" Lusheng festival by the Miao people) is held in Zhouxi town by Miao people from January 18 to January 20 in Chinese lunar calendar. It has a history of more than 400 years and it is one of the biggest festivals in the province. Some folk events held during the festival include a Lusheng dance competition; folk singing contest, buffalo fighting and horse racing. it provides many opportunities for visitors to enjoy the colorful minority customs and lots of photo opportunities. The festival lasts for 3 days, with the second and the third days being the highlights of the festival.

Place & Transport: KaiLi to Guiyang
Today's Activities: Matang Ge Ancestral Home, Our guide and driver will escort you from KaiLi to Guiyang, Jiaxiulou
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch at Vegetarian Restaurant

Matang Ge Ancestral Home (50 minutes): Matang Ge Stronghold is located in Longchang Town, 21 kilometers north away from Kaili. In Matang, the most attractive thing is wax printing with bright colors and exquisite designs. The local women begin to study "dotting flower", a skill of wax printing, from eight or nine years old. When they are 15 or 16 years old, they have become experts on dotting the wax on the cloth. Women's coats and dresses, suspenders, girdles, curtains, quilt covers, tablecloths, are mostly decorated by wax printing. Obviously Matang tourism development is better because there have some special wooden houses to accommodate tourists. And the villagers are very good at peddling the wax printing, the embroidery, and the decorations.

Jiaxiulou (30 minutes): Built in 1598, and is one of the symbols of Guiyang. The tower is a timberwork building with attics, and twelve stone pillars at the bottom. It is surrounded by a marble balustrade. Jiaxiu Tower is linked with the Fuyu Bridge which connects both the south and north banks.

Vegetarian Restaurant: This is a quite vegetarian restaurant with a Buddhist theme. No beer or liquor are served on the premises. This restaurant gets favorable reviews from our customers.
