Day 1: Flight to Urumqi

After your flight arriving at Urumqi, the guide will pick you up to the hotel.

Day 2: Urumqi – Heavenly Lake

Heavenly Lake has a reputation of the Pearl on Heavenly Mountain for its fascinating scenery. Coming from a glacier, the water of Heavenly Lake is pure clean. Surrounded by verdant trees and dense forest, it is a pleasant and comfortable place not only for escaping summer heat, but also winter skating.

Day 3: Kanas – Kanas Lake

Nestled in the deep forests and mountains of Altay, the Kanas Lake has many scenic spots of interest, including: Yueliang Wan (Moon Bay), Shenxian Wan (Fairy Bay), and also the Kanas village, with a population of 700 Tuwa people.

Day 4: Hemu – Guanyuting Pavilion

After 40 minutes driving from Kanas hotel, you will hike up to the Guanyuting Pavilion from the parking lot for about 1.5 hours, to get a breathtaking view of the entire Kanas Lake.

Day 5: Kanas –Tuwa Tribe

In the valley 2-3 kilometers south of Kanas Lake, there is a village of the Tuwa tribe. Tuwa is part of the Mongolian Ethnic Group. They practice Lamaism and live in their traditional wooden houses and keep their centuries old traditions. Tuwa people speak Turkish which resembles the language of Kazakh, and they depend on hunting and grazing for their livelihood. They also have special folk customs. The village is on the way from Kanas National Reserve to Hemu. This Minority tribe has lived there for thousands of years. It was voted by the Chinese National Geography magazine (2005) as the 3rd most beautiful village/old town in China. It is the paradise for the photographers especially in the early morning.
Then you will take a flight from Kanas to Urumqi. The guide will pick you up at the airport on time and the driver will take you to the hotel.

Day 6: Turpan – the Ruins of Ancient City of Jiaohe, Karez Wells, Suleiman Minaret

Built in the Qin Dynasty and the Han Dynasty, Ancient City of Jiaohe is a yellow-gray parched ground of a vertical island in a river. Seeing the landscapes of vineyards and orchards followed by desert and mountains is a good idea.
Karez Wells connected by underground channels is considered to be one of the three great ancient projects in China. A small museum provides an insight into their intriguing history and construction, and takes you below ground for a first-hand view.
Suleiman Minaret is the biggest ancient tower existing in Xinjiang and the only ancient Islamic minaret in the country.

Day 7: Turpan - Local Family Visit, the Turpan Museum, The Flaming Mountain

Have a visit to hospitable Uygur people family. See the traditional houses and enjoy unique food and drinks, and learn about their daily life and customs.
Turpan museum is the largest museum in Xinjiang, with the richest collection. You can see the development and history of Turpan, and the minority cultures in Turpan.
Flaming Mountains are the birth place of the Turpan ancient civilization and oasis agriculture. It has given rise to many legends and stories, including the famous “Journey to the West”. The views of Flaming Mountains change according to weather and temperature. August to October is the best time to go to Flaming Mountains.

Day 8: Kashgar

At midday on Fridays around 10,000 people will gather in Id Kah Mosque to pray and study the Koran. The main hall of the mosque is in Islamic style, such as pillars, carvings, rugs strewn over the floors. Women are advised to cover upper arms and legs. A scarf is not compulsory, but is seen as a mark of respect.
Abakh Khoja Tomb, also known as Xiangfei Tomb, is the only Uygur concubine among the 41 wives of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. The tombs are well-preserved in a traditional Islamic way. The style of the buildings and decorations are also very traditional.
The busy and popular bazaar in Turpan is famous throughout Asia, attracting the local people and merchants from nearby countries. Almost every aspect of commodities are sold, such as delicacies, clothes, textiles, carpets and many other colorful handicrafts. On Sunday, it becomes more popular.
A wide range of goods made by hands are sold in Zhiren Street, from strictly utilitarian cookware to exotic musical instruments.

Day 9: Kashgar –Karakuli Lake, Visit a Local Keerkezi Family

Karakuli Lake is a sparking glacial lake located at the foot of "the Father of Glaciers" – Muztagata Mountains. A railway connecting China with Pakistan goes by the lake. The lake is famous for its beautiful scenery and amazing clarity, the color of its water range from light aqua to dark bottle greens under reflection.
Karakuli Lake features fabulous natural scenery. Mountains around, clean water ranging from light to dark under reflection, are the best decorations of this scenic area.

Day 10: Departure

Your tour of Xinjiang ends today. You will reach the airport in Urumqi from Kashgar. The guide will make certain all the formalities and see you off at security gate.
