The Water Splashing Festival (Water Spray Festival) is the grandest traditional festival of Dai nationality. During three days in the mid April each year, the Dai people bless each other by splashing water and taking part in activities such as dragon boat racing, singing and dancing. Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1
Place & Transport: Arrive in Diqing, Flight not included
Today's Activities: Airport to Hotel Transfer (Diqing), Manting Park, Wild Elephant Valley
Meals: Chinese Lunch
- Manting Park: With a history of more than 1,300 years, Manting Park is the oldest park in Jinghong City. In medieval times, it was the park where feudal leaders went to relax and enjoy themselves. Manting Park is also called 'Chunhuan Park' which means the place where people can have their soul relax and keep all the earthly cares out of minds. This name came from a legend: One day, the King of the Dai ethnic group came to visit this park with his princess. The princess then was so completely enthralled by the beauty of the sceneries in the park that she lost her soul and forgot anything else around her.
- Wild Elephant Valley: Located at the joints of east and west zones of the state natural preservation areas, the Wild Elephant Valley is to the North of Jinghong City, about 50 kilometers away; and to the south is Simao City, 115 kilometers away.The most attractive scenic spot of Xishuangbanna to view virgin forest and wild elephants.

Today's Activities: Tropical Botanical Garden at Menglun, Jinuo Village

- Tropical Botanical Garden at Menglun: The arboretum is known as the Plant Kingdom because of its 3000 species of tropical plants.
- Jinuo Village: The Jinuo minority live there ann the village is almost an primordial one.
Day 3
Place & Transport: Diqing
Today's Activities: The Olive Plain, Water Splashing Festival
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Detailed Itinerary: The Water Splashing Festival (Water Spray Festival) is the grandest traditional festival of Dai nationality.
During three days in the mid April every year, people bless each other by splashing water and take an active part in activities such as dragon boat matching, singing and dancing.The activities are very rich in the three Water Splashing Festival (Water Spray Festival) days. In the first day, people hold dragon boats match near the Lancangjiang River. That day, there are many long dragon boats on the surface of the river, painted with colorful wood-carved head of the dragon and dragon tail, installed in front and back of the boat.
Travel tip:
People will bless each other by splashing water everywhere during the Water Spray Festival, please take more clothed with you.
