Guizhou Azalea Festival is an annually events held at Jinpo village in Qianxi County, Guizhou, southwest of China from April 8 to 25th since 1993.

In the years since its inception, the Guizhou Azalea Festival has developed into a festival filled with events that are annually attended by thousands of people. It brings more and more people from home and abroad to the celebration On the festival, there are customs shows from Yi, Miao and buyi minority nationalities, traditional activities like Lusheng, Jangle dance and bull fighting. What's more, bonfire carnival and flavors are well organized for the tourists.

Azaleas are called "the royalty of the garden". Some of the species or the many thousands of named varieties spreading in different countries in the world. China boasts its large number of species and most of them grow in Guizhou, a southwest province in China. A natural azalea forest spreading over 50 square kilometers near the juncture of Qianxi and Dafang counties in northeast Guizhou. Over 70 varieties can be found in the area. The azaleas blossom around “Qing Ming” or Tomb Sweeping Festival, according to the lunar calendar, the same time as the local Yi and Miao nationalities celebrate their traditional Chahua (camellia) Flower Festivals.

Here, you will enjoy the varied species, shapes of the different varieties range from stiffly upright, to broad spreading, to irregular, height range from under a foot to well over 15 feet and few evergreen varieties ('Pink Cascade') are weeping and may be grown as a hanging basket, besides, many varieties are dense and compact, others are quite open, and some are almost tree-like. It is also difficult to accurately describe and print the colors of azalea flowers for they are rich in color not only to different kinds, but also flowers on the same tree.

Naturalists, artists, photographers, needlework enthusiasts, explorers - will all find satisfaction in the azalea blooming season.
