Ku Er Gan

The restaurant is quite near International Grand Bazaar. Most dishes there are made of fresh mutton and beef, tasted very nice. The restaurant is decorated with typical folk style, and the considerate servers there wear folk style clothing made out of silk. Yoghourt and grenadine juice are very delicious and popular. Roast meat, rice eaten by hands (手抓饭, the rice is cooked with carrots, fresh mutton, onions and mutton oil), roast stuffed buns (烤包子) are several kinds of recommended food.

Mi La Ji

The restaurant looks like a cafe in a European small town, being decorated in gorgeous Turkish style. The host returns to Urumqi from Turkey, hence the restaurant serves various kinds of local food and Turkish style steak and snacks. Many art wares and national musical instruments collected by the host are shown inside the cabinet. Roast stuffed buns (烤包子), rice eaten by hands (手抓饭, the rice is cooked with carrots, fresh mutton, onions and mutton oil), grenadine juice, Huandi porridge (皇帝粥), noodles served with soy sauce, sesame butter, etc (拌面), mutton chops (羊排), yoghourt, roast meat and camel milk (骆驼奶) are several kinds of popular food.

The dinning environment is designed with unique folk style, being magnificent. It mainly serves pure Xinjiang style food (a kind of Muslim food). There are performances of dances and singings during night time. Dinners can enjoy the delicious food and splendid performances at the same time. Rice eaten by hands (手抓饭) tastes sweet and salted without any confliction. Roast meat (烤肉) is tender but never greasy. Yoghourt tastes sweet and sour, being added with some sugar. Other kinds of recommended food are grenadine juice, mutton shashliks (羊肉串) and soup cooked with wild pigeon (野鸽子汤).

Xiaolizii Blood Station Dapan Chicken

There is a blood station on the opposite side of the restaurant, that why its name has “blood station”. Dapna Chicken (大盘鸡, braised chicken with potato and green pepper) is the signature dish there, with spicy taste. The potato in Dapan Chicken is crisp in surface and glutinous inside. Dapan Lamb or Ox Tripe (大盘肚, stir-fried cooked lamb or ox tripe with pepper) is a nother highly recommended dish.

The restaurant serves Xinjiang style food (a kind of Muslim food), with the signature dish is Jiaoma Chicken (椒麻鸡, spiced chicken with chili sauce). Qiang Lian Bai (炝莲白, fried cabbage) is another highly recommended dish, tasted light spiced, sweet and sour. The dinning environment and the services there are okay, not being so good as that in a grand restaurant. However, it still very popular in Urumqi.

Fish filets in hot chili oil (水煮鱼), steamed fish head with diced hot red peppers (剁椒鱼头), steam spare ribs with glutinous rice (糯米排骨) and braised pig’s large intestines (干煸肥肠) are some other dishes worthy to have a try.
