Shangri-La is the peaceful, tranquil place described in the novel “The Lost Horizon” by a British writer, James Hilton, in the 1930s. Zhongdian, a Tibetan county in the north-east of Yunnan province is very similar to the place described in the novel, so people believe that Zhongdian is Shangri-La. It would be very easy for this place to be, with the beautiful Snow Mountain and its crystal clear lakes, peaceful people, rich grasslands and herds of yak. It is a mysterious, beautiful and fertile land.
