The Shoton Festival

The Shoton Festival is one of the most popular traditional festivals in Tibet. The festival is held at the end of the 6th Tibetan lunar month till the beginning of the 7th month. In 2010, the Shoton Festival took place from August 10 to 16. The celebrations during this period included eating yogurt, the Buddha Thangka painting unfolding ceremony, and watching Tibetan operas.
