Yichang Transportation

Air

Yinchang's airport (Three Gorge Airport) is 26 kilometers away from the city center and has a few flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Chengdu.

There are daily flights from Yichang to Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province.

The airport bus leaves from Qingjiang Hotel (Qing Jiang Bing Guan) 2 hours prior to the flight departure. A taxi ride from the city center to the airport costs around 80-100 Yuan. Click here to search flights to and from Yichang

Train

There are direct trains from Yichang to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xi'an. However, direct train service from Yichang to Guilin is not available, and to travel to Guilin you need to travel to Liuzhou first and then take a bus from Liuzhou to Guilin ( 2 hours). City Transportation

Yichang has several bus stations and the main long-distance bus station is located south of the train station. Departures to Wuhan are plentiful but most of the buses are in poor condition. Travel from Yichang to Wuhan takes around 4 hours.

Notice: the bus doesn't stop on the way and there are toilets on board.

I am planning a China trip and would like to include a trip to Xian and a three to four day Yangtze river cruise starting from Shanghi and ending in Hong Kong. What is best sequence and transportation arrangements between the different ciyies?

Hi Martin, I suggest that you take the Yangtze River Cruise start from Chongqing to Yichang(the essence of the Yangtze River Cruise ), then fly to Shanghai. The route is as below: Xian-Chongqing-Yangtz River Cruise-Yichang-Shanghai-Hong Kong

If the Yangtze River Cruise starts from Shanghai to Chongqing, it usually takes 8 nighs 9 days.

Hi. We are doing a Yangtze cruise ending in Yichang and would like to fly from there to Xi''an? Is there a flight that we can catch? Or is the overnight train the only option? Thanks!

Rosie,  Usually the flight from Yichang to Xian GS6558 (15:20-16:30) is only operated on every Tue., Thu. and Sat. from Arpil to Nov. annually. If you travel in other period, you may consider taking the train journey K628 (Dep. 15:50 - Arr. next day 06:59), duration of 15 hours; or take the fast train (two hours) to Wuhan city then connect the flight to Xian (the last schedule leaves around 20:00).

Chinese New Year (Feb. 9) is coming, train/flight booking is getting very tight, so please get well prepare in advance.

Dear Libby, There is only one overnight train from Yichang east railway station to Xian, setting off at 15:50pm and arrive at 6:59am on the next day. It takes about 15 hours and it costs about CNY365/US$58 for the soft sleeper. Lussie Lu Replied on 2012-09-10
