Established in 1973 and held annually every February/March, the Hong Kong Arts Festival has proved to be a special cultural feast for locals and visitors alike.
The event has hosted numerous rich and colorful performances (including ballets, symphonies, and operas) from China and overseas in the past 30 years, greatly enriching the horizons and fostering the artistic inclinations of Hong Kongers.
The Hong Kong Arts Festival is sponsored by various organizations, particularly the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Leisure and Cultural Activities Department.
As one of the signature highlights of the Hong Kong cultural scene, the Hong Kong Arts Festival is all-embracing. Classical music, folk music, Western operas, Cantonese operas, Peking operas, dancing, and symphonies fully meet the demand of visitors of various levels of artistic awareness and tastes.
A number of the world's best music ensembles have performed during the Hong Kong Arts Festival, notably the Vienna Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Balletto del Teatro alla Paris, New Japan Philharmonic, San Francisco Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and Shanghai Kun Troupe, as well as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Folk Song Troupe, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

The Arts Festival Friends and the Youth Friends membership programs are held during the Hong Kong Arts Festival to popularize the festival. A number of forums are held including art exchange, actress and actor interviews, and master lecture courses.
Locations: Performances are held in the major theaters, exhibition halls of various sizes, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (right next to the Star Ferry Terminal by the Avenue of Stars). The Hong Kong Cultural Centre is near the Tsim Sha Tsui metro station, and buses 6 and 7 go there.
There are three periods in which the tickets are sold.
Advance booking tickets: Advance bookings are available for the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival from October 11, 2018 until November 29, 2018. You can enjoy a discount of 15%.
Counter booking period: From December 8, 2018 (Saturday) at 10:00 am onwards, tickets are available for purchase at all URBTIX outlets and through the URBTIX Internet Ticketing Service, www.urbtix.hk. HKAF tickets for performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts are also available through HK Ticketing (premier.hkticketing.com).
During the period of the festival from February 16 to March 24, 2019, there are discounts and special offers for festival ticket holders.
