Weather: June is the rainiest month of the year and has an average precipitation of 458 mm that falls on 18 days of the month.

The average nightly low temperature is 13 °C (55 °F), and the average daily high temperature is 18 °C (64 °F). When it is sunny, the UV index is extreme. The average relative humidity is high at 86% Stay abreast of the local weather forecast>>
A beautiful layer of clouds called the 'sea of clouds' often rings the main peaks. Moist warm air from the sea ascends the the slopes and meets a layer of colder air to form cloud banks and rain.
Clothing: Rain gear and waterproof shoes with good traction are important. Dress in layers to adapt to changing conditions. A sunhat can help protect your face against sunburn.
Hiking: Expect big crowds when the weather is good. Climbing to the top of one of the three main peaks is moderately strenuous. Fit hikers can hike up in two or three hours.
Avoid most of the steps by taking one of the three cable ways that go to the hotels 1,400m+ (5,000 feet) up.
Xidi Village is an old clan village that is listed as World Heritage. It has well preserved Ming Dynasty era houses and courtyard gardens. As you walk through the streets and fields surrounding the village, you'll enjoy a less touristy experience than painters' paradise Hongcun.
The Dragon Boat Festival: The fifth day of the fifth lunar month is a public holiday. This date is most often in June. Enjoy delicious sticky rice cakes, bean cakes, and festival entertainment.
There are no major holidays, and schools and universities are still in term. You can enjoy the summer weather before crowds of children and students arrive in July. The main paths may be crowded with hikers.
Make hotel reservations in advance. Hotel rooms and Yellow Mountains flights are relatively more expensive, and train tickets may be difficult to obtain.
Recommended: 3-Day Yellow Mountains Tour from Shanghai. The mountains' hot springs are included on this tour of highlights. We can lengthen and modify the trip per your wishes.
