Jiangxi Province is located in the southeast of China with a population of nearly 44 million; it covers an area of 167,000 square kilometers (64,479 square miles). It is a time-honored province with plenty of celebrities, pretty mountains and rivers, and numerous places of interest. The forest coverage rate in Jiangxi Province is 60%.

Jiangxi Province has the largest fresh water lake in China, Poyang Lake. Jingdezhen, a city located in Jiangxi Province, is the hometown of blue and white porcelain, enjoys the reputation of “capital of china”.Mount Lu is the most popular tourist destination in Jiangxi Province. History and Culture

The history of Jiangxi can be traced to 10,000 years ago according to unearthed historical relics.

In Chinese modern history, Jiangxi played an important role as one Central Revolutionary Base Area during the period the Second Chinese Revolutionary Civil War (a civil war between 1927 and 1937 in China). Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi Province, is the scene of Nanchang Uprising, which is the origin of Chinese People’s Liberation Army Day. Located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, Jinggangshan has dozens of historic sites of Red Army of Chinese Workers and Peasants.

Location

Jiangxi is in the west of Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River), hence its name. The favorable geographical position gives Jiangxi Province great convenience on land, water and air traffic. Jiangxi Province is in the lower reaches of Yangtze River, Zhejiang Province and Fujian Province to the east, Guangdong Province to the south, Hunan Province to the west, and Hubei Province and Anhui Province to the north.

Attractions and Local Specialties

There are more than 2,400 scenic sites throughout Jiangxi Province, including: 4 world heritage sites (Lushan National Park, Mount Sanqingshan National Park, Mount Dragon and Tiger and Turtle Hill), 3 national historical and cultural cities (Nanchang City, Jingdezhen City and Ganzhou City), 2 UNESCO Geoparks ( Mount Lu World Geological Park and Turtle Hill World Geological Park), and 11 national scenic spots (Mount Lu, Mount Sanqingshan, Mout Dragon and Tiger, Fairy Lake, Tengwang Pavilion, Turtle Hill, Zhelin Reservior and so on).

There are plentiful and manifold special local products in Jiangxi Province. With a long history, Jingdezhen porcelain is popular both at home and abroad for its gorgeous ceramic glaze, appealing design, wide varieties and high quality.

Lushan cloud and mist tea (庐山云雾茶) is native to Mount Lu, it is one of the top 10 tea in China. Being a kind of high-grade local specialty, Lushan cloud and mist tea had won wide popularity in international tea market.
