Clearance Guide to Nine Shenzhen Ports

The passenger flow volume to Hong Kong and Macau has kept increasing ever since Shenzhen citizens have been allowed to visit the two places by showing their identity cards. It can take hours for clearance to Hong Kong in some ports of Shenzhen during busy periods.

Below is clearance information on the nine ports of Shenzhen to service smooth your passage from Shenzhen to Hong Kong or Macau.

Luohu Port

Address: Renmin South Road (near Shenzhen Railway Station)

Open: 06:30 to 24:00

Busy period: 9:00 to 10:00 during the festivals and holidays

Suited to: self-service travelers, business travelers, and tour groups

Clearance time: usually 10 to 15 minutes; about 30 minutes at busy times. Luohu Port is crowded during festivals and holidays. Look up clearance times online or by telephone before choosing this port.

Futian Port

Address: Yuheng Road, Futian District (west of Futian Duty-Free Zone)

Metro Line 4 (06:30–23:00) goes to Shenzhen North Train Station from Futian Station.

Huanggang Port

The second busiest port in Shenzhen (after Luohu), Huanggang is the third largest passenger transport port in China.

Busy period: after 9:00 during the festivals and holidays

Clearance time: usually about 15 minutes; one hour in busy times, four to five at holiday times (e.g. National Day and the Spring Festival)

At busy times avoid entry to Hong Kong at Huanggang from 08:00 to 11:30 and entry to Shenzhen from 18:30 to 22:00. Use Futian Port instead.

Suited to: self-service travelers, tour groups, and self-driving travelers with Hong Kong or Shenzhen license plates

Futian Port is 1 km southwest.

Nearby bus stops: Huanggang Port

Shenzhenwan Port

The largest land port, it is the most convenient route for bus users from Shenzhen to Hong Kong and Macau.

Busy period: 9:00 to 11:00 during festivals and holidays; returning rush after 17:00.

Wenjindu Port

Wenjindu Port was the first HK–China port, and faces the New Territories across the Shenzhen River.
