Currently, there are only ordinary trains running between Chongqing and Guiyang, with a journey time that takes more than 9 hours. The good news is that a high-speed railwayline between Chongqing and Guiyang is expected to be in operation by the end of 2017. From then on, the journey time will be cut to around 2 hours.
Construction started in 2013, and the Chongqing to Guiyang high-speed railway line is a major project in the southwest rail network, connecting the Chongqing to Lanzhou and Guiyang to Guangzhou high-speed railways.
Located in Shapingba District, Chongqing West Station is under construction and will be completed at the end of 2017.
It serves the Chongqing – Guiyang railway, the Lanzhou – Chongqing railway, the Chongqing – Kunming high-speed railway, the Xiangyang – Chongqing railway and the Chongqing – Changsha railway.
Chongqing West Station is 17 kilometers from Chongqing North Station, 12 kilometers from Chongqing Railway Station and 40 kilometers from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.
Newly put into operation in 2014, Guiyang North Station is currently the largest transportation hub in Southwest China. It is 4 kilometers; from the city center.
This station serves all the high-speed trains in Guiyang, including the high-speed trains between Changsha and Kunming, Guiyang and Guangzhou, Chengdu and Guiyang, Chongqing and Guiyang, and Beijing and Guiyang.
