Shaoshan In Hunan Video

By Kelly PangUpdated Mar. 19, 2021

Shaoshan is a small mountain village, about 100km southwest of Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province. Mao Zedong was born there on the 26th December, 1893. The former residence of Chairman Mao is the most interesting site. Following the Chairman’s footsteps, visitors can imagine the life of the great man. Dripping Water Cave, about 3 km northwest of the village, is a very popular destination, possibly because of the fact that Mao allegedly spent 11 days here, in the early days of the Cultural Revolution, from 1966 to 1976.
